The city in the clouds is always in the distance, never reached. But there’s a good boy here.

Matthew Ball’s “State of Video Gaming” is out (in a preview edition) and while I have issues with the way he frames some things, there’s still a lot of really good, seemingly well researched stuff in there. TL;DR: the video game industry is fully enshittified, and fucked.

Younger kid has been binge-watching the old House TV series lately, and given how much weird mental shit they attribute to syphilis, I’m thinking of all the billionaires who have had pedophile sex orgies together, and wondering whether it explains half of (gestures at the world) this shit

For Valentine’s Day, I’m running a CoC scenario set in 1665 colonial French Canada: you play as one of the King’s Daughters, coming to the colonies to find a husband! Horrible things happen, including hopefully my players having to wear a bonnet and a ring if, you know, Temu delivers in time.

“Haunted Hotel” started as a sort-of-vaguely-entertaining animated series, but I grew to like it more as the writers found their stride a few episodes in. By the time you get to that great season finale, it’s funny and spooky and strangely touching. Abaddon of course steals the show.

Since Altman (of OpenAI) claims that AI agents provide you with “PhD-level expertise”, a TA from Cornell University put three major LLMs through a freshman Computer Science class… it went about as well as you might expect, and it’s very entertaining!
Sure it sucks that the only thing we got from the promises of Cyberpunk was the dystopian corporation-controlled society, but hey Trump is going to deliver another batch of tropes soon! What? Oh no, not the flying cars and cyber-arms. I’m talking of the burned down US vs strong Europe and China!

“Inside the Far-Right Push to Influence Canadian Political Parties”: whatever is happening in the US can definitely happen in Canada (and in Europe for that matter), and some people are very intent on making that true.
“He Leaked the Secrets of a Southeast Asian Scam Compound. Then He Had to Get Out Alive”: holy shit, what an absolutely amazing and harrowing story.
