I wanted to watch that Khelif-Carini fight but quickly gave up — the internet is currently littered with thousands of transphobic garbage videos, and the actual fight is nowhere to be seen.

It’s funny to see US corporations withholding new features in Europe, and US tech bloggers cheering as if it was “gonna show’ em” or something. These people completely forgot what a functioning government looks like. And also that normal people don’t care.

My favourite big sci-fi movie bad trope is “protagonist gets hired at the last minute to lead a super important mission that was years in the making”. That’s solid project management, there, Bob… (and yes, I know why it makes sense narratively speaking)

It’s weird to me that Mastodon still doesn’t have multiple timeline algorithms. “No algorithms” isn’t the opposite of Meta/Twitter/etc’s algorithms: it should be “algorithms you control” vs “algorithms you don’t control”. Bluesky understands that with its Feeds.

The EU is throwing a lot of punches at big tech corporations, and I’m here for it with popcorn. Not all punches are great, or will land, but it’s fun to see US bloggers increasingly show their tech-libertarian colours.

I finally started reading the original Conan stories, but the book I have starts with REH’s notes on the world of Hyboria… oooh boy, I’m bored. Isn’t that a great example of why you shouldn’t start a #TTRPG campaign with an hour of lore exposition?

More than 15 years ago we left France in part because we saw a future in which the far-right became the leading party. It actually took ~5 years longer than we expected but it’s happening now. Interestingly, though, Macron’s weird strategy may buy us more time before a far-right president… we’ll see.
