I’m continuing my first watch of all things Star Trek, now about 2/3rds into TNG’s first season. I love it! It’s in line with TOS, but with more 3-dimensional characters, expanded lore, and hints toward some story arcs. Why were fans ever upset about this?

“Québécois dubbing of The Simpsons saved after outcry from fans”: I discovered the French Canadian version of The Simpsons when I first came to Montreal as an exchange student and OH MY GOD IT’S SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE EUROPEAN FRENCH ONE.
My knee-jerk reaction is to say “fuck no” to building “AI data centres” in BC, but it’s maybe a bit more interesting than I thought: it’s about building access to compute infrastructure to various Canadian companies, involving cool stuff like medical research. Mmmh.
The teaser/trailer for LAIKA Studios’s new movie “Wildwood” is out! It’s hard to believe this is still stop-motion animation, it looks absolutely stunning.
“EU weighs restricting use of U.S. cloud platforms to process sensitive government data”: well frankly most countries should have been doing that already for the past 10 years. Using as much open-source or locally built software as possible, too.
“Taken”: a nicely done web page that shows you all the stuff that can be gathered from your browser’s metadata. The kind of stuff that corporations and networks use to uniquely identify and track people on the internet.
People claiming that email and RSS is dead because we should go offline anyway are geniuses. Those who claim the same because we can “just use iMessage, WhatsApp, BlueSky, and Discord” or something along those lines, are idiots.
Once again I’m greatly annoyed at all those Ghost.io websites not having support for a simple email/password login. Ugggggh.
