Some cool things in the Sailor Moon #TTRPG: a history of magical girl and shojo manga/anime, character sheets for the series’ protagonists, GM guidance that includes effectively doing a session zero, and advice for adapting different genders to the game!

The Sailor Moon #TTRPG and “Resource Book” is a 1998 game written by Mark MacKinnon, who isn’t a stranger to adapting anime to the table. It uses a 2D6 mechanic, point-buy character creation system, and walks the fine line between playing the TV series vs playing your own stuff.

The Dee Sanction is a great occult investigation game set in the Late Tudor period. These are supplements: a book of six short adventures, some new occult powers, and a “character journal”. Probably my next choice for an “interlude” game #ttrpg

Of course, with In The Labyrinth, The Fantasy Trip is evolved half-way into GURPS, with Reaction Rolls, Advantages (aka Talents), etc. The two are still fairly easily compatible. The tiny TFT character sheet is almost a valid GURPS character sheet! #ttrpg

A bit more about The Fantasy Trip: the box is *packed*. And it’s always interesting to me when an “implied setting” gets slowly fleshed out with a map and locale or two. Plus: MEGAHEXES! (disclaimer: megahexes was a bad idea) #ttrpg

The Fantasy Trip is a giant box that reprints Steve Jackson’s mini-games Melee and Wizard (1977/1978!) These simple skirmish-like rules get turned into a full #TTRPG with In The Labyrinth (1980!) It’s as different from D&D as RuneQuest was. That’s my kind of OSR!

I finally watched the first two episodes of Utopia and wow, I really love it. I have no idea where it’s going, and when I know where it’s going it’s much worse than I thought. I like that!
