The Deer Lake Park eagle is on patrol again!

I finally saw the cult classic Ravenous (1999) and really enjoyed how some of the very dark things that happen are sort of left unsaid. Plus, it’s got many actors I like, and the premise is absolutely ripe for a TTRPG scenario. Great stuff.

The Northman is another beautiful Robert Eggers movie, with Alexander Skarsgard’s beautiful body covered in beautiful blood for half of the runtime. What else to ask for? Well, there’s also a great depiction of the Viking world, which makes the movie feel more fleshed out than Eggers’ previous two rather contained stories.

Good morning! Some nice fall colours today

I recently finished all four seasons of Atlanta. What a strange, funny, insightful, and original series. The first season starts as somewhat standard short-form drama, but it becomes increasingly quirky and surreal, with many episodes you absolutely won’t see coming. Loved it.

Last Night in Soho (2021) is a mystery/thriller/horror movie that sadly disappoints on all three levels. But it’s still an Edgar Wright movie so it’s very entertaining, the direction and editing are amazing, and the soundtrack is top-notch! Bonus point for Diana Rigg’s final performance.

If you think that public bathrooms are gross, maybe you want to watch Glorious to confirm you’re right! A fun concept for an almost equally fun movie. Thanks to the Good Friends of Jackson Elias for the recommendation!

Sick (2022) is a home invasion/slasher movie set during the Covid pandemic, and with a couple fun plot twists that showed up shortly after I started feeling like it was dragging on too long… so still worth it if you’re a horror fan like me!

Vengeance (2022) is a badly titled, but pretty good slow-burn thriller with a sizable dose of black humour and great secondary characters. The writer/director seems to have a lot to say about the state of the U.S., too.

Your best Evil Dead fix this century is definitely the amazing Ash vs Evil Dead TV series, but if you want the ridiculous signature gore and demonic possession of the franchise without the silly grooviness that came later, the Evil Dead remake from 2013 is decent. Evil Dead Rise (2023) tries a few new things with some hits and misses, but I like how scary Alyssa Sutherland can get!
