On the one hand, Dean Blundell is a controversial guy who has a big mouth and smells a bit too much of “bro nationalism”. On the other hand, his Canadian take on the US/Canada trade-war is quite entertaining.

Politically, this country has been a bar fight for a decade. That’s over. There is no Liberal or Conservative position on being annexed. Doug Ford, a Conservative premier, stood next to a Liberal prime minister this weekend and said he was glad Carney didn’t sign and promised to cut off electricity to the entire US eastern seaboard. David Eby in B.C. is already drawing up lists of ways his province can help Ottawa inflict pain. Canadians have done 22 billion in Damage to the US economy this year alone by pretending it simply doesn’t exist. The 2025 boycott of American goods never ended. It’s been a year and a half, and the shelves still have the little flags on the Canadian products. We are not a political coalition anymore. We’re a country, and countries with our history don’t negotiate the terms of their own disappearance.

Oil. Electricity into New England and New York. Potash that American farmers cannot plant without. Uranium. Aluminum for every F-35 and every beer can. Lumber for every house. Trump is fighting a two-front war, one against Iran with an oil reserve at a 44-year low, and one against the country that fills the reserve. The last man who tried a two-front war against people who wouldn’t quit had a bunker in Berlin.
